The FOMR August Walk ‘n Talk will be Saturday, August 28 at 9:30 am. The location will again be at Moore’s Bridge Park (615 Black Dirt Road, Whitesburg, GA 30185). (We are meeting at Moore’s Bridge Park to avoid the crowds attending the Cross Country races at McIntosh. We are meeting on the 4th Saturday as several program leaders will be out of town on the 21st.)
Jessica Anderson and Andrew Pitt will be presenting a program on the tricolored bat. Both Jessica and Andrew are graduate students of Dr. Andrew Edelman at the University of West Georgia. Jessica is investigating the role of the skin microbiota of the tricolored bats in relation to the fungal disease white-nose syndrome. After the program, Dr. Tim Chowns will lead a short hike on one of the other trails at Moore’s Bridge that we have not yet explored.
Bring chigger and sun protection as well as a chair for comfort during the program. Parking fees will be waived for program participants.
Hope to see you there!
