Please Register today to join us!

Sweep the Hooch

Sweep the Hooch is an annual watershed-wide trash cleanup that brings together hundreds of volunteers each year at dozens of parks, tributaries, and access points along the Chattahoochee River.

This year McIntosh Reserve is listed in Metro Atlanta which includes cleanup locations in Carroll, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fulton, and Gwinnett Counties.

What to Wear: Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting very dirty and WET. Please dress weather appropriate . . . we will be outdoors the entire time. We highly encourage you to wear long pants as some of the trash we pick up can be sharp/jagged materials, plus poison ivy is a possibility.

Footwear: Walkers and Waders will be walking along the banks and in the water. Wear rain boots, waders, water shoes, or old sneakers (absolutely NO open-toed sandals). Full waders will be required at some sites.

Paddlers must bring their own boats and gear, as these will not be available onsite. Specific details will be provided closer to the event by your team lead.

Child/youth participation: Youth between the ages of 10 (minimum age) and 16 must be supervised by a parent/guardian onsite at all times. Children are not allowed to be dropped off. Walkers and waders must be at least 10 years old. If paddling solo, paddlers must be at least 15 years of age. If paddling tandem, paddlers must be at least 10 years. All paddlers under 15 must be accompanied by an adult that is at least 21 years old.

Please arrive by 8:45 for instruction and materials distribution. Lunch will be offered afterward.
We hope you will join us at McIntosh Reserve Park for this river clean-up event.
