Saturday, November 14, 4 pm
Location:
Lowell United Methodist Church
180 Lowell Lane
Carrollton, GA
(The church is located at the corner of Lowell Road and Highway 5, west of McIntosh Reserve Park. For those coming from parts of Carrollton, it may be quickest to take Lowell Road from South Highway 27.)
Timeline:
4 pm: Potluck dinner. Bring your favorite potluck contribution. (Something with a Native American connection would be great. Examples include anything with the “3 sisters” (corn, squash, beans), quinoa, wild game (turkey, venison, fish), dandelion green salad, any fruit/nut mixture. There are lots of interesting recipes on the internet. Just have fun with it. Or not. Bring whatever you like. )
We will have water and iced tea. We will also provide paper plates, cups and utensils, though some may choose to bring their own washable utensils.
After dinner: A short business meeting will be followed by our featured speaker, Don Wells, with the Mountain Stewards. Don will be speaking about the ‘Mystery Trees” – those “bent trees” still standing which served as trail markers along paths traveled by Native Americans as long as 400 years ago. Don works with the Mountain Stewards and other groups to preserve and educate people about these historic trees and trails.
Request for RSVP: As our meeting space is fairly small, it will be most appreciated if you will let us know if you plan to attend, and about how many will be with you. Also, if you know enough ahead of time, state the nature of your dish – meat, vegetable, salad, soup, bread, fruit, desert or drink. We usually have about 35 people, but all may not partake of each dish.
