2017 July Report – August 21 Solar Eclipse

In his July Walk and Talk Dr. Ben DeMayo talked about the upcoming August 21 eclipse of the sun and explained some of the physics of the phenomenon. He also passed out special solar viewing glasses to attendees that can be safely used to view the sun before and during the eclipse. The photo above shows the attendees trying out the glasses. In Carroll County the eclipse will begin about 1 pm and end about 4 pm. The sun will reach its maximum coverage of 95% in Carroll County a few minutes after 2:30 pm.
