FOMR April calendar:
Saturday, April 6th.
Pollinator Garden Work Day 9am – 12pm.
Join Birds Georgia, Trust for Public Land and FOMR in planting a native garden!
Meet at the new building site at the Big Field (base of Council Bluff)
There will be approximately 30 native plant species to arrange and plant!
Work gloves are encouraged.
Saturday, April 13th.
Walk & Talk 10am.
Wildflowers in the Park with Gail Woody, native plant enthusiast.
We will hike a nearby trail looking for native flowering species and pay tribute to Wendell Hoomes.
Meet at the base of Council Bluff, riverside.
All events are open to the public. Children are welcome. You will need a parking permit- consider purchasing a yearly permit good for all the parks – available for purchase at any of the parks. A family parking permit is $50. For Seniors 62+ the pass is yours for $30.00. A daily permit is $5.00.
Membership information:
If you are not a member of FOMR but are considering becoming a member, dues paid between now and the end of the year will make you current through the end of 2024. Those who have paid dues at or since the 2022 annual meeting, or have indicated their intention to join at the 2023 annual meeting on the 16th will be listed in the annual report as a member. The same goes for contributions: Those making a contribution at or since the 2022 annual meeting will be acknowledged in the annual report.
Walking Guide
We now have a walking guide about the geology of Carroll County near the Carrollton Greenbelt on the FOMR website. The guide was written and photographed by Dr. Tim Chowns, Professor Emeritus of the University of West Georgia.
