2006 Reports

December 2006:  Annual Christmas ferns and native hollies hike, led by Wendell and Eleanor Hoomes.  We had a large crowd and a wonderful walk.  Also participated in the Christmas lights festival at the Reserve by putting up the lights display at the old water park.  This event brought many vistors to the park during the evening hours on the weekends between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Be thinking of some clever light fantasies for this coming year.

October 2006:  For the October Walk and Talk, Dr. Heidi Banford, West Georgia University, returned to demonstrate how she and her students moniter stream health by sampling the fish population.  She found the streams at McIntosh to be quite well populated by a number of marker species.

Our Annual meeting/potluck dinner was well attended, making it possible to elect new officers and carry out business – but we nearly froze to death!  Many of us looked quite pecuiliar in the old blankets and odds and ends found in our cars that we managed to pull together around ourselves.

September 2006: we had a successful Fall Festival.  Many vistied our booth to check us out and to look at the maps of the McIntosh Historic Trail.
